Class 1: What Are You Doing? An Experience of the Metaphor of Doing (Date TBD)
“The metaphor I use a lot is–it’s like a pine tree producing pine cones, or a blackberry bush producing blackberries – it’s just what happens with this being, now.” Alice Walker- Author
The “how” and the “why” you feel about what you are doing has a big impact on your being. In this class, you explore in metaphor landscape that you create through a facilitated meditation process of questioning called Clean Language. This unique and creative process is fun and wonderfully enjoyable. Bring your questions about what you are doing in your life, to be facilitated on a metaphoric journey that is balanced with time for personal reflection/note taking and sharing.
Class 2: How Do You Intuitively Know? (Date TBD)
“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” -Carl Jung
We all have questions we ask ourselves that may lead to looking to outer resources to explore answers. One great resource is our intuitive self, which we can experience in the form of metaphor. Bring your questions to be facilitated on a metaphoric journey that is balanced with time for personal reflection/note taking and sharing.
Class 3: What Do You Have? An Exploration of the Metaphor of Have (Date TBD)
“In the endall god talk is a metaphor and we have to find the metaphor which best opens up our heart to god” Cynthis Bourgeault- Author
Looking closely at the ways you relate to “What you have” is the emphasis of this class. You explore your own metaphor landscape that you create through a facilitated meditation process of questioning called Clean Language. This unique and creative process is fun and wonderfully enjoyable. Bring your questions about what you have in your life along with paper and pencils of your choice.
Class 4: Thinking Outside “The Box”- Expanding Your Metaphors
“A Large Part of self-understanding is the search for appropriate personal metaphors that make sense of our lives” George Lakoff– Cognitive Linguist and Philosopher
The word “being” may conjure up a variety of responses at any given moment. In this class, we venture into what this means for you. Be ready to be facilitated on a metaphoric journey that is personal and insightful. There is time for personal reflection/note taking ( with paper and pencils of your choice) and sharing with quality listening.
Meet your Facilitator
I have been a student of meditation since 1976 when I began practicing with a local yoga teacher from India. In the 1990’s I spent 4-years studying Buddhist meditation in Kyoto, Japan. There, I began an in-depth exploration of the healing arts of shiatsu acupressure, herbalism, tai chi, and qigong while also studying the traditional Japanese art forms of Noh mask carving and dance. This experience led me to a career in holistic and complementary health care. I offer a range of healing modalities which include shiatsu, lymphatic drainage massage, aromatherapy, symbolic modeling-a coaching technique…I also teach meditation privately and for the Kadampa Meditation Center in Baltimore.
I have been fortunate to study with a number of master teachers in Japan as well as the U.S. My teachers of Kadampa meditation in sutra and tantric practices have had a profound impact on the depth of practice I can offer. I also had the good fortune to work as a research assistant at Johns Hopkins Medical School on a clinical study on meditation and states of consciousness. These experiences have deepened my intuitive faculties and my ability to listen to and hear my clients. All of this has inspired me to live a life of service and beauty. I welcome and cherish the opportunity to work with my clients with loving kindness.
I am excited to offer a therapeutic modality called Mindful Metaphors. Through gentle inquiry called Clean Language, participants work with metaphors to go deeper into intuitive knowing and have an experience of their “Self.” In accessing inner states of consciousness, truth, and peace, clients may find they can unlock answers to questions and resolve challenges that were previously blocked or stuck. Mindful Metaphor sessions are relaxed and relaxing and feel like a natural process of going into a deeper, more knowing aspect of one’s self.
Discovering your metaphor is enjoyable, insightful and a unique opportunity to deeply listen to your inner self to unveil and dialogue with one’s intuitive and inner knowing – Rosemary
